Themes

The last week or so has been a bit challenging, emotionally. I have been so overwhelmed with thoughts, emotions, life lessons, etc. It’s been difficult enough to process through everything in my own brain, let alone put my thoughts into words. The Lord has been teaching me so much and stretching me beyond my undefined limits. Sometimes I just need to take time to stop, breathe, and reflect.

With that said, I've spent some time being "still" and reflecting upon my trip thus far. These are the reoccuring themes that keep popping up:

Obedience
Humility
Purity
Earnestly seeking/desiring the Lord
Understanding who I am in Christ

How about YOU? What is He teaching you during this season of YOUR life?

Thanks, Becky, for updating your blog. Now we know how to pray for you.

This morning we had our 12-minute presentation on our Serve Africa-Mozambique trip. Both Rose and I spoke. I talked about several things that have been on my heart since returning about a month ago:

(A) The question I get asked most often by friends and coworkers is this: Why go to Mozambique? My response is this: "Why NOT go to Mozambique?" I then show some of my pictures of the beautiful people we met there.

(B) I learned three significant lessons while I was there.
-1-Every day, every activity, and every discussion cannot begin until I have prayed.

Jeremiah 33:3 is an important verse about this: "Call unto me and I will answer and tell you great and unsearchable things you do no know."

-2-We must be willing to do **whatever it takes** to glorify God. Our lives are not our own--they have been purchased through the grace of Jesus. This means, in very practical terms, that 'it's not about me'. "

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.” Colossians 3:23

-3-Having an impact for Jesus Christ includes encouraging others by sharing our stories. Think of all the people we have met through our work in Mozambique. I have met a lot of people at the U because my coworkers will forward my emails to their friends who know of people who are interested in God's work in South Africa, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. Think of everyone who has supported us in prayer, financially, and even by giving us a hug now and then.

I have shared a lot about my trip with my friends, family members, coworkers, and small group members. It's amazing. It's also great to be able to share uplifting stories about how our Moz brothers and sisters continue to seek God's face despite the daily difficulties and challenges they face.

Moz is the land of the living. “I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.” Psalm 27:13

Sorry this got so long. We're praying for you. Looking forward to seeing you again.

Amen. I'm so amazed to see how God is working in you. Not only in His using you to do His work - but also in how He's constantly transforming you. Such an inspiration!

God bless!

Hey Becky,

Thanks for blogging us a picture of what you're experiencing in South Africa. I can imagine what a great encouragement you are to the workers there! You're probably a great prayer warrior for them and the work also.

Yeah, I have friends in South Africa, so I know the seasons are opposite ours. Just think though, as November and December come along, you'll be experiencing spring and summer.

Blessings to you dear girl,

Julie
